The fifth graders were able to take a trip field trip to two local farms, Gaffney Family Cattle and ZanDairy Farms. The students were able to see a beef and dairy farm in action. They learned the different jobs you can have that deal with agriculture and farming. The students were able to witness the process of IVF (in vitro fertilization ). Hi-Point Steak House came and did a demonstration on the different cuts of meat you get from beef cattle. They also provided the students with lunch - including hamburgers and filet mignon. At ZanDairy they were able to see robots milk the cows and enjoy yogurt made from milk from the farm. They learned about the different food and bedding each type of animal needs to survive. Thank you to both family farms for allowing us to come and learn.
