The Barneveld Referendum Information Team requested information to better understand the roles and responsibilities of the administrators. The Barneveld School District has many employees who serve the district's needs by filling multiple roles, including important positions that are separate, full-time positions in slightly larger, neighboring districts.
Robyn Oberfoell is the District Administrator and Communications Director. Her role is to oversee the school district's operations, including academics, communications, facilities, finances, health & wellness, safety, technology, and transportation. Robyn's job supports the department managers with decision-making, planning and budgeting, as well as partnering with local, county and state agencies to provide high quality programs and services for all students. All school board members are essential school district partners and Robyn partners with the school board to ensure the school district follows state and federal legal requirements, adopts current policies and academic standards, and provides a safe and secure environment for students and adults.
Heather Schmitz is the Principal and Director of Curriculum & Instruction. Her role is to oversee the school's operations, including academics, courses, grading, activities, as well as student and staff accountability. Heather's job manages the school building's daily events, activities, and issues, as well as working with staff to plan short-term and long-term goals to improve instructional strategies for all students and providing high quality resources for content and curriculum standards.
Melanie Norton is the Dean of Students and Data & Assessment Coordinator. Her role is to oversee the school's services for students and families, including attendance, truancy, elementary Sources of Strength, academic and career planning, and various levels of behavior management strategies for students, families, and staff members. Melanie's job also manages the district's local data and assessments, including STAR, Xello, Forward, and ACT opportunities.

Only in a small school can the 7th grade Music Class perform for the elementary in the middle of the school day. Our 7th grade Music Class did a mini Opera for the elementary. They wrote their own songs, choreographed the songs, wrote and delivered the transitions, created the props and sang. Excellent Job 7th grade!

March Madness has new meaning this year:
* Tomorrow is the end of the third quarter
* Tomorrow is also a 1:00 pm Early Release Day
* The district is anticipating over 100 absences tomorrow based on planned absence forms
* The district has an extra snow day built into this year’s calendar
* Tuesday was the First Day of Spring and Friday’s forecast calls for snow and visibility issues
We are monitoring local weather sources and the National Weather Service updates. All sources are reporting 100% chance of snow and limited visibility, as well as various amounts of possible accumulation. A two-hour delay is warranted. However, the forecasts do not predict the snow to end or visibility to improve before 10 am. It is not ideal to start a school day at 10 am with weather concerns and send students home at 1 pm. Barneveld has an extra snow day to use, and based on the circumstances, Friday seems like a good day to use it.
There will be NO SCHOOL on March 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29.
The school office will be open from 8 am-3 pm next Monday-Thursday. Closed on Friday, 3/29.
Classes will resume on Monday, April 1st.
Voting Day is Tuesday, April 2nd.

Congratulations Kasey!! Recognized by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association as 1st Team All-State in Division 5!!!
Thank you to our Student Mentoring Class for hosting a successful Literacy Night for our Elementary school. Several stations had hands-on activities related to children's books, and the best part was that the students were able to take their creations home.
