Good News! The new mill rate projections are based on budget models that include a $1 million increase to the Revenue Limit after a successful Recurring Referendum in April and additional Equalized Aid funding. The district wants to send a special shout-out to our Business Operations Manager, Jean Flannery, who has done a tremendous job managing our finances, state and federal grants, and the ever-changing school finance formula.

Ohhhhhh, what fun! Barneveld's PhyEd classes took a "field trip" to the land of inflatables! The gyms were alive with jumping, climbing, sliding, giggling, and squealing. Y'Allbee Inflatables from Potosi has been a terrific partner on this project, and students from 4K to seniors were having fun staying active. (A few adults were seen having fun, too.) Thank you to our families for sending $5 for the two-day experience, and special thanks to the Barneveld PTO and an anonymous donor for donating the rest of the money needed.

6th graders are learning how to graph on a coordinate plane. Their pictures turned out great. How fun!

As many may have learned or know, February in education we celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across the country. This week is dedicated to the career and technical student organization (CTSO) called SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA is America’s proud champion of the skilled trades. We’re a student-led partnership of education and industry that’s building the future skilled workforce our nation depends on with graduates that are career ready, day one! Our local SkillsUSA chapter is a combination of 6-12 graders that are looking to advance and enhance their professional career through competitions, collaboration and giving back to their community. This year the chapter consists of 52 members. Members that are dedicated to their chapter, school and community. In SkillsUSA, members have the opportunity to compete at competitions that are throughout the state of WI. Competitions range in 3 categories: Leadership Development, Occupationally Related, and Skilled and Technical Sciences. Students fine tune their skills in an area of interest that they are passionate about. Expanding their knowledge through what they have learned in school or from on the job training. Through this knowledge they compete against other students from all over WI. While judges grade and critique all individuals about their performance, they can earn a medal at each competition. Many find that the opportunity of competing to be the overall achievement. Breaking down barriers so they are career ready in their professional journey in life! The SkillsUSA theme this year is “NO LIMITS.” Implying that there is no ceiling to what SkillsUSA student members can achieve through SkillsUSA!
Recently, the Barneveld SkillsUSA chapter competed at the SkillsUSA UW-Platteville Regional. 28 members signed up to compete in the following different categories: Welding Display, CO2 Dragster, Job Skill Demonstration, Prepared Speech and Team Engineering Challenge. Our members represented our school and community with great respect and achievement. 14 out of 28 attendees from BSD, placed in the top 3 of their competition. MUCH, MUCH, MUCH and MUCH to be proud of, regardless of the outcome, all competitors were amazing! Members are fine tuning their skills for the upcoming state competition in April at the Alliant Energy Center. The following student members placed in their respective competition:
Third Place MS CO2 Dragster: Parker Carden, Second Place MS CO2 Dragster: Chase Roethle, First Place HS CO2 Dragster: Erin Lasse, Second Place HS CO2 Dragster: Bevin Bradley, Second Place Job Skill Demonstration: Braylee Eslinger, First Place Prepared Speech MS: Sophie Reese, Second Place Prepared Speech MS: Brinkley Eslinger, Second Place Team Engineering Challenge MS: Mason Durst, Avery Schulting and Kenzie Danz, First Place Team Engineering Challenge MS: Mya Norton, Addison Carden and Kelsey Douglas, First Place Welding Sculpture MS: Will Pechan
NO LIMITS! GO EAGLES! Keep up the great work!
