
Our 3rd - 8th-grade students will receive a visit from Minnesota author, Erin Soderberg Downing, on February 7th. Downing will discuss her latest book, “Just Keep Walking” about a 12-year-old and her mother hiking 100 miles of the Superior Hiking Trail in northern Minnesota. The book will be released the day before Downing is in Barneveld. We have the opportunity to preorder her books and receive them signed by Downing following the visit! Please view the link below for more information about preordering Downing’s work. The Book Order Form and payment are due January 16 to Carrie Portz.

PTO BINGO fun - Join the PTO for some Bingo fun! Thursday, January 18 at 5:30 pm - bring the family out to the Golden Eagle, grab some dinner, and enjoy 10 rounds of Bingo! 50% of funds raised go back to winners, the other 50% goes to the PTO so they can continue fulfilling teacher requests!

Mark your calendars - Dinner Delivered - One night only! On January 15, the Barneveld Softball Team will be doing a fundraiser with Ope to sponsor their upcoming trip to Gulf Shores. Order online or call in and your food will be delivered to your home by the softball team. 100% of cash tips provided to the drivers, and 10% of overall sales that night will be donated towards the team trip.

The staff have been working with their Action Teams for the past 1.5 weeks to create "Gingerbread" structures for the students to vote on. The Senior Class presented Taylor with a check for $660. These proceeds game for the Dodgeball tournament earlier this month. Thank you to all that contributed.

Mrs Carden’s 5th graders participated in a math STEM activity. They were given toothpicks and holiday DOTS candy. They needed to build a tree that would stay standing.


Thank you to the Climate and Culture Action Team for organizing our first big/little buddy reading time. The middle and high school homeroom classes were each assigned an elementary classroom to go and read with. The elementary classrooms provided the book choices. It was another great day to be part of a Pre K-12 school district. We were hoping to go from 2:45 - 3:00.

Next time you are in the building, please check out our Youth Apprenticeship banners. These students must take one course relates to their area of work and related to the same career cluster. They must also complete a minimum of 450 hours per year in their job. Congratulations to these students and best of luck in their futures!

The senior Advanced Comp students had a virtual visit and evaluation from our faculty liaison at UW-Oshkosh. Barneveld students receive 3 credits for completing the college equivalent of Writing 188. Thank you for taking on and meeting the challenges of college coursework.

On Monday, Barneveld SkillsUSA Chapter traveled to Oregon HS to compete in the DIstrict 4 SkillsUSA competition. With over 315 students competing in this district from all over Southern Wisconsin. This district is known for producing some of the best competitors that take the podium at the state level. Tough competition is not only an obstacle to get through, some of the toughest judges in the state are also judging these competitions. 24 members made the journey to compete in the areas of their choice. They competed in Team Engineering Challenge, Prepared Speech, Job Demonstration, CO2 Dragster, Woodworking Display, and Metal Sculpture Display. Barneveld SkillsUSA exhibited some of the best work seen in their respected events. Barneveld was represented very well with 14 of the 24 attending placed in the top 3 of their area of competition.
