The Barneveld Referendum Information Team requested information to better understand the roles and responsibilities of the administrators. The Barneveld School District has many employees who serve the district's needs by filling multiple roles, including important positions that are separate, full-time positions in slightly larger, neighboring districts.
Robyn Oberfoell is the District Administrator and Communications Director. Her role is to oversee the school district's operations, including academics, communications, facilities, finances, health & wellness, safety, technology, and transportation. Robyn's job supports the department managers with decision-making, planning and budgeting, as well as partnering with local, county and state agencies to provide high quality programs and services for all students. All school board members are essential school district partners and Robyn partners with the school board to ensure the school district follows state and federal legal requirements, adopts current policies and academic standards, and provides a safe and secure environment for students and adults.
Heather Schmitz is the Principal and Director of Curriculum & Instruction. Her role is to oversee the school's operations, including academics, courses, grading, activities, as well as student and staff accountability. Heather's job manages the school building's daily events, activities, and issues, as well as working with staff to plan short-term and long-term goals to improve instructional strategies for all students and providing high quality resources for content and curriculum standards.
Melanie Norton is the Dean of Students and Data & Assessment Coordinator. Her role is to oversee the school's services for students and families, including attendance, truancy, elementary Sources of Strength, academic and career planning, and various levels of behavior management strategies for students, families, and staff members. Melanie's job also manages the district's local data and assessments, including STAR, Xello, Forward, and ACT opportunities.
